New York-based hypebeasts and fashion victims, mark your calendars: The fashion collaboration that basically broke the internet this past January, between ultimate streetwear brand Supreme and ultimate luxury company Louis Vuitton, is soon to become a real thing that regular humans can buy IRL. And because it's apparently the only cool way to do brick-and-mortar retail right now, the collection is apparently being released via pop-up.
Unless it's a Metro card-esque marketing stunt, a notice — as in a physical piece of paper posted around NYC — from the local New York City Community Board revealed further details. The notice advertised a community board meeting at NYU scheduled for Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., where local citizens could provide input and voice their concerns about proposed "street activities" from June 29 to July 2 hosted by "Louis Vuitton/Supreme" for a "(Product Launch)" at 25 Bond St. between Lafayette and Bowery.
Back when the collection hit the men's runway in Paris, Louis Vuitton menswear designer Kim Jones said in an interview that the two brands would "probably make separate stores in areas where both of them are popular," and recent reports noted that three pop-up shops were planned for June 30 in Los Angeles, Miami and New York. After that, starting July 14, Louis Vuitton stores would carry the collection in stores.
Whether this event will be contained within a store or take place out on the cobblestone street is unclear, though as far as we know, 25 Bond is just a condo building and the phrase "street activities" suggests the latter; of course, a line of people will stretch outside the space regardless.
In fact, given the frenzy this drop will inspire, an entire city block probably still won't be enough space to hold everyone. The two brands may need to reserve all of SoHo.
